Failure will never overtake me if my determination to succeed is strong enough.
As far as I can see, there are three ways of dealing with cancer. (1)To attack it
(I dislike the language of "fighting) or (2) ensure the internal body systems are
not conducive to helping cancer grow. (3) A third is to be prudent and avoid
rushing into conventional medicine treatments – radiation, chemotherapy,
surgery. They have their place but are not all their is.
If one only attacks the tumor, as in conventional medicine, and note the attack
language, and doesn't do anything to change the conditions that promoted its
growth in the first place, the chances of a recurrence are about 70%. Part of what
contributes to that, is that the treatments used, in themselves are also
cancer-producing eg radiation and chemotherapy are both causes of cancer,
toxic to the body, and so too is surgery, oft cited as a cause of the spreading of
Research - become aware and informed
So, always, if you can, do your research - ask questions about proposed treatments, weigh up side effects and risks, consider the success rates of the proposed treatments. Consider alternative AND complimentary approaches. None of this is easy when you have just had a seemingly devastating piece of news. Stay focussed, rested, eat wisely, and love yourself each day.
Foster a healthy immune system
If you are going to use conventional treatments, there are many things you can do to protect your body during treatment. Key amongst these approaches is to foster a healthy immune system, and eat wisely.
It is also important not to do things by half measures – eg if you decide to spend considerable money on consuming cannabis oil (CBD oil) yet continue to feed yourself all manner of sugars and carbohydrates, or succumb to masses of toxic chemotherapy, the cannabis oil is not going to crack the mustard seed, it alone is not going to help. Your approach must always be holistic with any and all treatments working toward a harmonious outcome.
Foster the best conditions
So, how do you foster the optimal internal terrain that doesn't support the growth of cancer?
Run all body care products and household products through Environmental Working Group (www.ewg.org) to check for toxins.
In Chapter 2 of her book, The Metabolic Approach to Cancer, Dr. Natasha Winters offers a questionnaire to help readers identify and prioritise the potential drivers of their cancer process. The questionnaire is not intended to diagnose or treat, but rather simply to heighten awareness. The headings of the Ten Terrain Assessments (areas where your body may be out of balance and therefore cancer inducing) are:
Genetics and Epigenetics
Blood Sugar Balance
Microbiome and Digestive Function
Blood Circulation and Angiogenesis
Stress and Biorhythms
Mental and Emotional Health
Organic as far as you can afford and can access
Avoid genetically modified foods
Eat local in season where possible
Ensure food gives you the maximum amount of nutrients
Stick to low-glycaemic, low carbohydrate foods
Know that real fat – in butter, cheese, is OK
Olive oil and coconut oil only.
9 sizeable cups of vegetables a day — 3 cups leafy greens, 3 cups cruciferous vegetables (eg broccoli, brussels sprouts), 3 cups colourful veggies (eg peppers)
Avoid vegetables grown below ground
Drink purified water
Spirit nourishing practices
Daily mindfulness/meditation/prayer practice
Spend time in nature daily, laying on the earth, walking barefoot on the dewy grass each morning, visiting gardens, in warmer climes finding forests with bathing facilities, walk barefoot along the beach
Get out in clean air and breathe deeply
Whatever you choose, make it fun.
Make sure you breathe properly.
Cultivate a nurturing support network
people who are your cheerleaders
Attend to any sleep problems eg sleep apnoea
Aim for 7 – 8 hours quality sleep ie you awake refreshed and energised
Avoid electrical equipment in your sleeping area
In bed by 10pm or 11pm – at least a regular time each night
Research the effects of shift-working and sleep
Be in touch with the earth
Use earthing mattresses
Avoid as far as possible connection with electro magnetic frequencies (EMFs)
Grow a garden and/or indoor plants
Be in touch with your Higher Power
Accept that you are a spiritual being having an earthly existence
In a non-religious or religious sense, develop your own approach to faith and prayer
Check body care products for toxins and chemicals – switch to eco products
Conventional medicine treatments
It is your body and your choice which treatments you opt for – do not be
bullied or feel intimidated by the limited options you may be given
Conventional medicine has primarily three options for you – surgery, radiation,
Do not rush to go down any of these routes. Take time to consider the evidence,
the risks, and the side effects. They are still huge and may cause you more harm than heal.
Chemotherapy is akin to a toxicity entering the body system.
Chemotherapy is but one, but a main, form of cancer treatment. It uses strong and often toxic drugs allegedly to combat the disease. But question - does it do more harm than good? For any drug you are suggested to take, research it, what is its success rate, its side effects. For some people, chemotherapy is the only treatment they are offered from our conventional NHS system, while others will be offered and will undergo chemotherapy in conjunction with surgery and radiation therapy.
There are many chemotherapy drugs on the market for a variety of purpose and with many side effects. Certain chemotherapy drugs are used to slow growth, while others prevent cancer cells from spreading; others are given to patients to help them deal with the side effects of cancer. Always research these side effects and never underestimate how debilitating they can be AND the fact that you may be fed other drugs to deal with the side effects, drugs which can also pummel the body system. And staff do not always have or take the time to explain in a language you can understand, and taking into account your emotions, just what chemotherapeutic treatment might involve.
Although thought of as “safe,” chemotherapy comes with numerous, dangerous side effects. The most common of these are hair loss, nausea, bone marrow changes, fertility problems, and affected memory and thinking...to say nothing of how you may be emotionally feelings and all the thoughts racing through your mind.
Because of these side effects, many people rightly believe chemotherapy to be a gamble, if not an outright sham. In my younger sister’s case she was given as a main chemo drug one that had a 5% effectiveness rate – ie a 95% rate that it would do her harm – and it did. And she died. Very quickly. But it was all she was offered and she was too scared to refuse or to fully embrace alternative / energy / functional medicine. But , in your case, why would you take a drug with only a 5% possibility that it might help you?
When challenged, the oncologist simply said, “It is all we can offer.” And refused to discuss further. It may be all conventional medicine has to offer, often restricted by paradigm belief , NICE constraints, and NHS budgets, but it is not the totality offered by considering other modalities and approaches.
Patients should be warned about the dangers of chemotherapy. Recent research published in The Lancet Oncology showed that chemo kills up to 50% of cancer patients in some hospitals. For the first time researchers looked at the numbers of cancer patients who died within 30 days of starting chemotherapy, which indicated that the medication is the cause of death, rather than the cancer.
New research results in July 2017 conducted at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University found that chemotherapy spreads cancer throughout the body, causing a sharp increase in cancer cells circulating throughout the body (including the lungs). The research was published in Science Translational Medicine and is entitled Neoadjuvant chemotherapy induces breast cancer metastasis through a TMEM-mediated mechanism.
A summary of the study reports that “the authors discovered that several types of chemotherapy can increase the amounts of TMEM complexes and circulating tumor cells in the bloodstream.” It concludes that “chemotherapy, despite decreasing tumor size, increases the risk of metastatic dissemination.” IE the spread of cancer. And Taken from Natural News.com “In other words, even though chemotherapy “shrinks tumors,” it’s also spreading cancer throughout the body, functioning as a kind of activation for future cancer (that just so happens to generate repeat business for the cancer industry, of course). This research to me confirms that chemotherapy causes cancer.
Another option is to have alternative cancer treatment in conjunction with chemotherapy to decrease the need for additional radiation therapy. Natural alternative cancer treatment enables the body to heal from the toxic effects of the chemotherapy, while boosting the immune system's ability to kill cancer cells. Explore these – some of which are listed above.
Radiation as a cancer treatment has been around for years. It is offered as either a primary or secondary treatment of necessity for killing malignant tumours. Notice again the language used around cancer – fighting, killing, struggle, combat. Why do we use such aggressive language if we want to heal?
I cannot recommend highly enough that before succumbing to any form of conventional treatment, you do your homework and inform yourself on the possible negative effects of radiation and the increase risk of death from radiation-induced causes so that you can make a properly informed decision. Ask your consultant. Have them explain and answer your (many) questions. Don't just accept what they say. They only know what they only know. Get a second opinion!
One study has shown that women who received radiation had an increased risk of death from heart attacks because their hearts had been weakened by the therapy. Radiation also weakens the immune system, the very system needed to fight disease and infection, and can lead to death from secondary causes like pneumonia.
Many patients die from their cancer treatment, but have the side effects, such as heart failure or pneumonia, being the recorded cause of death. Cancer statistics are misleading.
From the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast Project, it was stated that from the data available, post-operative (ie after surgery) irradiation has provided no advantage to patients.
Radiation therapy to the abdominal/pelvis areas may cause nausea, diarrhoea and abdominal cramping. Blood counts can be decreased by radiation therapy, especially white blood cells and platelets. Lymphedema or swelling may also occur in the legs. Bowel obstructions or ulcers can also occur due to radiation.
The rectum is most affected by pelvic irradiation for treatment of the prostate, cervical and colon cancer. Acute symptoms are evident with diarrhoea, urinary urgency, haemorrhoids or rectal bleeding and fatigue. Pelvic irradiation can also cause ulceration, severe bleeding, stricture or narrowing of the rectum, severe incontinence and fistula. A fistula is an opening between the rectum and the skin, forming an alternative pathway for the excretion of faecal material and open to infection. Fistulas also can form between the rectum and the vagina causing faecal material to enter into the vagina.
The lung is one of the most radiosensitive organs, yet is often radiated due to cancer of the oesophagus, breast or lymphatic system. Common radiation effects in the lung only become evident about three months after radiotherapy, with congestion, cough and shortness of breath, fever and chest pain caused by inflammation of the lungs. This inflammation can lead to scarring of the lung tissue and permanently decrease lung function.
Most side effects of radiation have a major impact on the patients' day to day activities and can impede daily functions.
Knowing that radiation can cause debilitating side effects, permanent tissue damage and can induce an increased risk of death, a cancer patient should decide if the potential promised benefits outweigh the significant risks.
Surgery is a major part of treatment for many cancers, especially when the cancer is localised (i.e. has not spread). You might have surgery for a range of reasons, including:
diagnosis and staging: to help diagnose the type of tumour, or see how big it is and whether it has spread or changed
first-line or primary treatment: which aims to remove as much of the tumour or tumours as possible
combination treatment: to remove as much of the tumour as possible before starting another treatment such as chemotherapy or radiation therapy, or to remove any remaining cancer after these therapies
palliative surgery: to relieve the symptoms of a tumour, especially if it is causing pain or obstructing other organs.
Ask what are the chances that the surgery will help? What is the success rate?
Then ask yourself – do you want to put your body through this? You may feel there is no option. But that may not always be true.
And if you do opt for surgery, what natural treatments will you add in to support your body, especially your immune system?
NB From the above you will note that conventional medicine's prime approaches are focussed on treating the symptom.
Functional medicine, energy medicine, metaphysics seek to address the cause.
Causes of cancer
None of the above deal with causes of cancer.
The causes oft lie in the realms beyond the physical symptoms – and so we need to consider meta (beyond) physics (the physical.)
At a metaphysical level cancer is complex as it is at a conventional level; there are so many parts to the body and so many causes of cancer. But for each there are some common themes:-
At a simple level, Louise Hay wrote in her book, “You Can Heal Your Life”, Cancer is caused by- “Deep hurt. Longstanding resentment. Deep secret or grief eating away at the self. Carrying hatreds.”
But if we probe deeper, we get the following – not intended to be comprehensive, only to stimulate thinking and areas where change may be needed in your life.
Cancer – Breast – people feeling they will never be good enough. Spend their energy on nurturing others to be good enough. They reject caring extended to them by others. Feel like they are not good enough to be loved.
Cancer – Cervical – often people with a sunny disposition but below the surface life is not so sunny. They keep relationship at a surface level and are afraid to go deeper. May be hiding depression – a tendency to judgment of others, manipulation, and criticism. Obedient to authority.
Cancer – Colon – people often unsuccessful in relationships, see sex as a bit of a game, relationships have no real substance,, question whether they are worth loving.
Cancer – Lung - people and life’s addiction including to chemicals and smoking, feelings of “I am not worthy of living” “I must smother my grief”
Cancer – Oesophageal – I must never complain, I must swallow my pain, expressing feelings is dangerous, I will be seen as weak if I express my feelings
Cancer – Urinary tract – a feeling of being spiritually blocked, can’t always express intense emotions, feels betrayed by family or family life, creativity is stifled.
That may get you thinking, but there is so much to it and I would recommend reading the book “Cancer - A Book of Hope” by Lise Bourbeau
An article on the metaphysical causes of cancer
