Energy psychology – now widely recognised in the UK – is more often known as Energy Tapping or EFT – Emotional Freedom techniques.
EFT provides you with keys to unlock psychological issues by helping you to understand and use the power of your own energy system. It works well with other techniques such as goal setting, reframing negative beliefs, creating and regularly using positive affirmations, using visualisations; it makes it easier, and quicker, to get to the point where you can let go your limitations and step into your own power and truly, unconditionally Love your Self. When you can do that, life works!

Tapping, otherwise known as EFT, is a combination of Ancient Chinese Acupressure and Modern Psychology. Instead of needles, you just use your finger tips. Yes, YOU can do it for yourself.
Energy psychology originated in the 1960s, although its origins go back more than five thousand years ago. George Goodheart in the 60s experimented with tapping on the various meridian accupoints of his patients being treated for pain. It was then developed by Roger Callahan in the 1980's and modified and greatly expanded upon by Gary Craig a few years later.
Since then, thousands of psychologists, psychiatrists, doctors, coaches and individual users have adopted this powerful technique for use on themselves, their clients, family members and others.
EFT is a simple technique and involves "tapping" on the meridian points of your body while focusing on your emotions or feelings, all with the goal of reprogramming the brain and body. See meridian points opposite.
Clinical research studies with EFT show impressive results in a variety of areas such
as relief from chronic pain, emotional distress, addictions, phobias, PTSD (posttraumatic
stress disorder), athletic performance, and even amazing results in achieving weight loss!
The essence of EFT is that you eliminate psychological processes by simply thinking
about a painful issue or memory whilst at the same time tapping on the meridian points
shown above. The process also helps eliminate self-sabotaging thoughts and beliefs and
destructive patterns of thinking and behaving.
It is especially useful in the area of self-esteem; you may learn wonderful techniques like
affirmations and positive visualisation but if you keep on playing an underlying
sabotaging belief then you need to let that go too. EFT helps with that.
Many people still believe that talk therapy, eg counselling, can help bring about changes,
especially in the field of managing emotions and beliefs. Indeed, it can. It has its place.
Sometimes we just need to talk things through and out. But sometimes, just talking, can help keep us stuck.
However, the process can be enhanced, and often speeded up, by using energy psychology.
Although it may not seem realistic that tapping on meridian points located on your face
and hands can change how you think or feel, more and more therapists that I meet say
they have not found another treatment that is as fast or effective as energy psychology.
I, like many, was sceptical of EFT until I tried this method to eliminate some deep
